Protecting Your Identity on the Web

There are a number of ways a person can protect their identity on the Internet no matter what their reason. It can be simply a privacy issue or someone that runs a large corporation that wants to keep top secret things extremely private. No matter what the reason is, there are a few ways you can accomplish this and keep your browsing to yourself.

Private browsing mode is one way that protects you from your browser retaining your search and browsing history, cookies and form data. This is not a way that is 100-percent safe but it does help in keeping out your normal hacker that may use a website to gain your information.

Private by proxy is another way that you can hide your identity because every time you visit a site your IP address is known but with an anonymous IP address you can bypass this and maintain your identity as a secret. This can be done through certain services that allow you an anonymous IP address or you can use an anonymous proxy server by searching for these services then configuring your own proxy server to reflect the change.

Peer to peer proxy and digging a tunnel are a couple of other terms that allow you to remain anonymous but keep in mind that nothing is totally foolproof. A very good hacker can usually find out anything so if you are doing something you shouldn’t and want to remain totally clean then don’t do it at all. However, these tips can help out with your normal person without a lot of hacking knowledge and keep your identity more safe.

One thing to keep in mind is that you can use these when you’re in a public place and don’t want someone to be able to access your business.
