What’s the Best way to Rid Yourself From Spam Email?

Everyone has clicked on something in their email that looked promising (make big money from home), only to find it is just another telemarketing scam and certainly something we didn’t intend to open. Seems like there should be a solution to rid yourself from this ‘crap’ that keeps showing up.

Some hints and suggestions that may help:

  • Have two email accounts – Many of us have email accounts that are set up for business and professional use. It’s that email that we especially don’t want spam. If you’re serious about keeping the crud out of your inbox, create a professional account with your first and last name in it. The second email account can be something fun and frivolous, where getting spam isn’t such a big deal. Tighten the security down on the professional email, and let what happens, happen in the non professional account.
  • Don’t give out your professional address – Publishing your professional email address is a bad idea. If someone needs your professional address, give it to them. If a website for Walmart gift cards asks for your address, enter the not so important address. Most of the junk and spam you get comes from clicking on banners and other advertisements. Once you click on something you shouldn’t, you’re going to get spam, and get it in large doses.
  • If you don’t recognize the sender, don’t click on it. These spam emails are sent with a notice of receipt function, telling the person who sent it that you opened it. Don’t encourage more of the same, by opening what you don’t know.
  • Don’t get click happy – Viruses and spam can even come from people you know. If you recognize the name and click on it, check what’s there before you start clicking.

A great rule of thumb is: If you don’t know the sender, don’t open the email.
